Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be used to treat Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), suicidal ideation, self-harming behaviors, and other personality Disorders. DBT is an evidence-based treatment model based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles to treat personality disorders and aids in regulating the Client’s intense emotions and improve relationships via mindfulness and distress Tolerance. DBT can be effective in both individual therapy and group settings. The goal is for the Client to recognize their maladaptive behaviors and substitute them with healthier more effective behaviors.
