Jessie Louis-Jean – MS, LMHC
Ms. Jessie Louis-Jean is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She obtained her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University and her BS from the New York Institute of Technology in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Life Science, Social Science, and Behavioral Science. Jessie is Certified in Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Gottman Method for couples therapy, and Trauma and Behavioral Focused Therapies. Ms. Louis-Jean is a member of the American Mental Health Counseling Association, NYIT Alumni Association, and the LIU Alumni Association. Ms. Louis-Jean is fluent in both English and Haitian Creole with some proficiency in French, Spanish, and sign language.
Jessie brings over a decade of experience to supporting individuals, adolescents, and couples through life’s challenges such as anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Jessie’s approach involves creating a nurturing and supportive environment customized to meet her client’s unique needs. By working together, she will guide you in exploring your relationships, behaviors, and emotional patterns. The goal is to empower her clients with self-awareness and the tools to strengthen personal growth that will lead to a more satisfying and balanced life. Additionally, Ms. Louis-Jean employs outcome-oriented clinical treatment using proven methods compatible with MST principles and practices. Previously, Jessie performed supervised individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation/outreach.
Jessie is a dancer/choreographer trained in Ballroom and Latin dances and was a part of a folklore dance troupe for many years. She takes pleasure in crafting eco-friendly self-care products, infusing them with scents that ground, relax, and soothe. Jessie is a deeply beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend who is respected by her colleagues for her humanitarianism and dedication to the community that she values and loves. It is an honor and privilege to have Jessie as part of the First Step Family.
