Play Therapy

Play Therapy is an effective and useful tool that the Therapist will implement to communicate with children, with or without developmental disabilities i.e. Autism, which will help them better understand the mental health of the child. This form of creative Therapy is a widely used treatment modality for children ages 3-12 because their Cognitive Skills develop before their language capabilities evolve. Engaging in this natural medium of expression will help the child problem solve, increase self-esteem, and navigate Mental and emotional issues that they are not able to verbally express. The Counselor may use various Play Therapy toys i.e. books, dollhouses, cars, trucks, puppets, craft sticks, medical kits, and cell phones. Top Brand dolls such as Mattel’s Ken Fashionista Dolls and Barbie Fashionista Dolls are ideal for their inclusiveness and diverse color pallet making them a great option for Therapists working with a multicultural population. These toys can be purchased at Top online Retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Target.
